For the right person with the right California document, this can be a convenient government service.
Nevertheless, applicants should understand what a California Secretary of State event can actually authenticate.
The Pop-Up Shop Handles California Apostille Requests
The California Secretary of State authenticates qualifying signatures of California public officials.
That may include signatures appearing on eligible:
- California birth certificates
- California marriage certificates
- California death certificates
- Documents notarized by California notaries
- Certain California court documents
- Certain school and educational documents prepared through the proper California process
- Other records signed or certified by eligible California public officials
The important word is California.
A state apostille is generally obtained from the state connected to the public official whose signature appears on the document.
